Leashes' founder Kathleen Newton has worked with companion animals through most of her professional life. A graduate of Marist College with a degree in Business Management, she owns and manages Leashes' parent company, Great and Small Gallery, LLC. Kathleen recently left a long-time career of managing municipal animal services and now shares her dog and cat expertise with Leashes' clients, both human and animal. She has studied dog and cat behavior with experts from national agencies such as the Humane Society of the United States, the ASPCA, and the American Humane Association.
From Kathleen: "We formed Leashes because we felt that suburban families needed alternatives to leaving their dogs and cats alone for many hours at a time. For dogs, we know that mid-day visits minimize their boredom and loneliness and shorten their long day, making the family's arrival home a more enjoyable experience for all. For traveling cat owners who choose to have their cats cared for in their own home, we offer once or twice daily visits to assure that all is well until the family's return." "Our visits are customized to meet the needs of our clients' pets and to maintain the routine that the family has established.
